Fast and great for mic'ed bass drums or low volume playing

Out of the box this pedal is reasonably well set up and required almost no tweaking. Compared to its sibling, the Axis AAX-X Single Pedal, it's uncomplicated and straightforward.If you are looking for a pedal that will allow you to blast a loud note from your bass drum, this one is not it. At least not without a mic. For me it's perfect because I play in much quieter acoustic settings, and often with a double bassist. This pedal ensures that you will have smooth action without stepping all over acoustic instruments.Smooth is the pedal's best quality. It is is almost invisible under your foot. If you are not use to direct drive style pedals you may not like it at first. However, it allows you to play blazingly fast. Personally I play heel down and do not need to pump out a barrage of 16th notes, but if I had to I know this pedal would make it possible.Another thing I love about it is the single-post. This lets me move my toe much further up the board to play very lightly when required.Overall, this is a high quality pedal and will work with any music genre or drumming style. It also supports every technique from my old-fashioned heel down to more modern heel-toe. Bear in mind my caveats about how loud it is (or isn't). If you like what you've read so far, take the time to investigate other pedals before you pull the trigger. I recently discovered the Sonor Drums 14508401 Bass Drum Pedal (the one Jojo Mayer designed, which is also called the Perfect Balance Pedal), and I think it's a contender worthy of consideration too.
