Exactly what I wanted

After reading the other reveiw I was concerned about the purchase.. The other reviewer has clearly received the wrong watch.My watch is exactly like the picture, black face, pin sharp markings and no large numerals.The strap is really stiff, it even hurt a little to wear at first, but it's a chunky leather and I anticipate it will soften. Bending it round a pencil at key point was a harsh but effective cheat.It's a big watch, my scrawny wrists perhaps don't suit it (damn you genetics!) but that's a failure on my part not the watch. It's not very heavy, but then this is probably due to the strap not being steel. It is alligator leather, not fake crocodile as per other review.I do regret getting the strap version tho, it might have been a brighter move to get the bracelet version and purchase the strap separately, as the strap is easier to source and cheaper to buy than the almost impossible to find, and expensive bracelet.. But then, this too is my bad. In fairness the strap does look much better.The lume strips are so small as to be pointless.In the end it's a gorgeous watch and I'm very pleased. It exudes class.Go amazon for stocking a difficult to find piece, and at 2/3 the uk price it's a bargain.

amazing value

I recently bought this watch from Amazon and have worn it for about a week. I've been amazed by the elegant appearance, quality and features at a price that's a small fraction of more prestigious brands, several of which I also own. It's a beautiful design. That said, I feel the need to make a few points. The face is dark gray, maybe anthracite, not black, and the metallic hour markers do not stand out as they do in the photo. Perhaps I have a slightly different model, but the 12, 6 and 9 positions are numerals. The stainless steel case has a nice finish. The contrast of gray dial, dark brown strap with beige stitching, and the stainless steel case is very sophisticated and appealing. In keeping with the trend towards large watches, this is fairly big and masculine looking. But I have an average-to-small wrist and it looks fine. I thought this would be more of a weekend/sport watch, but it's more elegant than that. I've been wearing it for business, with brown shoes and belt, and would wear it for any but the most formal occasions. My only nit-pick is the crocodile embossing on the otherwise very nice leather strap. Why not just leave the leather alone? I don't like fake anything. Of course you could buy a real crocodile strap, which would probably cost more than the watch itself, and then you'd have a very elegant dress watch. But Bravo to Hamilton and its owner Swatch for producing a beautiful automatic watch that almost anyone can afford.
