Works as advertised, Didn't have to use the included blinkers because I purchased a tail light with integrated blinkers but anyone who doesn't plan on buying the tail light option has blinkers available for use. Stylish and looks great. :)

5Acer AZ5700-U2102 All-in-one Touch PC
By W. I. Lin
Another excellent product from Acer; this huge all-in-one touch screen PC features a bright, HDMI enabled 23" LCD display, 1TB HDD, 4GB RAM, and a windows 7 64-bit operating system and a included AcerTouch software which lets you view time/date/weather, Flickr/Facebook/Youtube contact updates, and even picture slide shows and videos in your HDD at an ease of a touch. This Touchscreen PC is simply the best one you can find out there within the price range (similarly equipped Sony will cost over $1200). Don't hesitate if you need a touch screen PC in your office/room!

5Ok a second review finally! Very good and compact mower. Recommended.
By Peter A. Denny
So I did what most of you probably have which is read the review of this item which was a bit light and wonder if its really that good? There are no details past its light, cuts well, has a metal blade and its cute enough for the ladies. Ok so I read this one and I reviewed a lot of other mowers in the price range as well as over, corded and non, etc. I even skimmed Consumer Reviews. Somehow I kept coming back to this item and I did look at it for weeks before I pulled the trigger. So the end result? I am super pleased but there are a few caveats to consider. So why don't more people by this as opposed to the Black and Decker or other brands? I think part of it is that you have to pay shipping and its also a big unknown from a brand perspective. I know because I did spend a lot of time looking at the other reviews and wondering whether I should just get that? Well I walked into lowes, saw how huge the other mowers were and I read the bad reviews on both amazon and CR for one popular brand (grey) and I just said the hell with it. If it sucks I can always return it. So I pulled the trigger and ordered it. Then I got the delivery notice of Dec7-20. Dang was this coming from Brazil directly? Well no worries it arrived Fedex Ground by Dec 4. I was thrilled. The box was not too bulky and this thing really is in the feather weight category. Its easy to pickup and would fit in most smaller trunks so that is good if this is an issue for you.So what are the caveats? Well not too many really but mainly on putting it together. Its a matter of just putting on the handle and assembling the basket for the clippings. The handles are coated in a kinda plastic that the holes are drilled in. Its not clean so take a moment to run the screws through and trim the excess plastic. Also recommend you have someone hold the handle while you line up the screws. I did it myself but it was a trick to line up and hold AND get the bolt in. The second bigger issue is looking at the basket I thought there is no way these two will join up. One is rounded and one is square. If you colored outside the lines as a child this will be no issue to you but it was a bit strange. The manual says that they will flex into position and it did indeed but it was a pain to get it started. This took me the most time, sadly about 15 min because the basket kept sliding away. An extra pair of hands to hold it into position will likely make this a snap. Lastly they had some clips for the power cable from the body of the mower to the handle. Well they dont really fit the cable and honestly they are just going to fall off anyways. I tossed em and used some plastic cable ties. Nice and neat, come in black and they hold extremely well which I think those plastic ones will keep falling off and probably piss you off eventually. So just ditch em.So the cut! What about the cut! Ok ok it cuts damn well. Manual says dont use on wet grass. Well I live in Seattle so fat chance of that. I cut my over grown matted down nasty brown patch of grass and it cut like a champ. I had to keep emptying the basket a lot but that was expected since I have not mowed the grass since we bought the house 5 months ago but hey I had trouble settling on a good electric mower. I did have to occassionally clean out the cutting area but that should go away as the grass recovers and becomes lest dense and matted down not to mention clumped. Please remember to unplug the mower. Its very tempting to say oh its just a minute nothing will happen but I dont want anyone to lose a hand.Over all, this is a very small, light and space saving unit. Its not super loud and its cute for the ladies. Operation is simple, and its easy to move around and compact. For the ladies, wear your short shorts and act like you dont know what to do with the box and I am sure you will have half the neighborhood boys happily offering to assemble this for you. They will probably even mow the lawn for you! :DOverall I strongly recommend you buy this model. I dont know why more people have not ordered this but its an excellent mower that will take almost no space in the garage. A+

5A little mower
By Dave Templin
I was looking for a small mower to match my small lawn and decided to order this one based on all the other favorable reviews here. The vendor shipped it the same day, and we got it in under a week. Breaking it out of the box, it was exactly what I expected in terms of size and quality. Running it around the lawn for the first time it was surprising how much authority the little AC motor had, cutting through the grass quite easily. Folds down to a tiny 34" length by 14" width by 23" height for storage. And everyone commented on how cute it was. Great buy - I like it a little mower each time we use it!

5I like it a lot
By Joe in Los Angeles
I just built my first system with this case. It's also my first full tower. I've been using mid towers like the Antec Sonata and the Thermaltake V3.This case is huge and sturdy which also means heavy, Add to that the lighted fans and my wife says we may use it our Christmas Tree this year.I agree with Mark about the top mounted controls. I read that and said be careful but without the front cover that plastic thing got damaged slightly moving the case around. With the cover on it's not bad, and I only damaged one of the 3 plastic locking pins so it fits fine. One thing that I missed in the description is that there is no 3.5 bay that is open to the front. I have an SD card reader/USB hub that needs one. The 5.25 to 3.5 adapter tray that comes with the case only has mounting holes on the bottom so I needed to order an another adapter. No big deal but it did delay completion.I do like the 3.5 drive cages but it took me a while to find the 2 screws holding it in. They are underneath those "toolless" locks.I haven't had a problem with the side fan PCGEEK mentioned, except when I tried to run without the door screwed in tight, the latches just don't hold it tight enough.I loaded it up pretty good and still have plenty of room for expansion.

3Great Case - some flaws though
By Kungfubo
So I purchased this case a month ago. Installed my entire build and everything works great. However, there are some serious flaws that are more annoying than anything.First - the "noise" i have seen complained about - it is not that bad at all. I run this computer in my living room with company over and my GF hanging out and we rarely ever notice it. It certainly is not "loud" - just sounds like a computer running. The fan control might as well not be there - even if you dial it down to the lowest it isn't really that much noise difference. I just leave it at maximum. The color LED lights are OK. I am not sure they are necessary BUT it is great for the next problem. The side door is AWFUL. I mean AWFUL. Maybe it was just my particular case but putting the side door on and taking it off just sounds like I am butchering the case. It requires WAY too much force to take off and put on. Which leads me to the next problem. The side 200mm LED fan is powered but a contact that exists at the base of the door/case. The contact has to be relatively tight in order to power the fan. SO if you put the door on and it doesn't fit EXACTLY as it is supposed to - the fan will not power up. The LED lights help here because I can just notice whether or not the fan is on by the light and not have to worry about checking the fan to make sure it is blowing the air out. There is TONS of room in this tower. I run most of my programs at full HD detail (2gb radeon msi twin frozr card) with the GPU rarely going above 52C. I have NEVER seen the CPU or system temp go above 43 for any of my programs.Would I recommend this item? I mean sure it was a decent product and price (I got it for $98 from tigerdirect.com seller - though shipping was a good $40) but I would have to say no no no. You can get much better for investing just $20-30 more.Just buy a case from your local bestbuy/frys/whatever. I would suggest the Coolermaster HAF-X mid-tower (it is a mid-tower but really its about the same size as this thermaltake one)

5Elgato EyeTV HD turns your Mac into a DVR, streams to iPhone
By L. Abate
This review taken verbatim from my tech column... Overall, great product but requires some computing horsepower to really shine.Last week, Elgato announced a new TV tuner/DVR solution for the Mac. It is called the EyeTV HD and pulls 720p HD cable content right from your cable box. The device was born out of the need to get television shows and movies out of the living room and on to the multitude of devices people are using to get their daily fix. After one week of using the EyeTV HD, I have come to the conclusion that for Mac users, there is no better way to move content from cable box to computer. Initial setup time is less than 15 minutes and is very straightforward. As soon as the cables are connected and software installed, the little guy can be put to work recording content to your computer's hard drive. By using an IR blaster to control the cable box, cannels can be switched by the EyeTV software, thus enabling scheduled recording- just like a standard DVR. The programming guide is powered by TVGuide and matched up accurately with my FiOS on-screen listings. This service is subscription based ($19.99/year) but Elgato includes one free year with hardware purchases.Programs can be recorded manually, or by adding them to the record schedule. The EyeTV HD works just like a stand-alone DVR, but only one program can be recorded at a time. Content is stored in a proprietary EyeTV format that weighs in at about 5GB per hour- small hard drives need not apply. To set up a recording, all it takes is a click on the record icon located beneath the show listing, the EyeTV software does the rest.Once recorded, content is converted for playback on the iPhone, iPad, or both. In addition, recordings can be exported to all the popular formats, including DivX, Windows Media, and native H.264. The converted content is also automatically added into iTunes, complete with title, description, cast, rating, and more. This makes searching for specific shows or moves extremely easy and I found it to be a nice touch. Want to edit the recordings before sending them to you mobile device? That can be done within the EyeTV app as well. Users can trim out commercials and split up long recordings with a few clicks of the mouse. The process is very intuitive and also nondestructive, as original recordings are kept alongside the edited copies. In addition to functioning as a DVR, the device can also stream both live and recorded programs to an iPhone using the optional EyeTV app ($4.99). My experience streaming over WiFi was flawless. Content streamed from a 2.66GHz MacBook Pro to an iPhone 3GS looked as if it were being played locally. Viewing over 3G also worked well, though video would frequently re-buffer, especially in congested areas. Current 3G speeds are not really designed to stream high quality video, but as the faster networks come into use, apps like this will really begin to shine.Overall, the EyeTV HD works as advertised. The video quality is high, the conversion process works without a hitch, and the video editing is simple. One thing to keep in mind is the reality that you will need to have the HD set-top box near your computer for this all to work. Component video cables can easily be found in 10-foot lengths, but beyond that, the risk for signal quality loss comes into play. Bottom line, Mac users serious about their television will not be disappointed with Elgato's latest offering. The good:- TV lovers' dream come true, only limited by the size of your hard drive- Setup instructions are clear, takes less than 15 minutes- Captures high quality 720p HD- Quickly converts video to iPhone and iPad friendly formats, about 5 minutes per half-hour of video- Editing is very easy- Can also record from S-video and composite video with included adapter- Ability to stream to iPhone over Wi-Fi and 3G (see below video for demo)The bad:- Core 2 Duo Mac required, very processor intensive to run- Cable/Satellite box needs to be located near the EyeTV HD and computer- Annual subscription to TVGuide required after first year, $19.99- Decreased productivity levels resulting from 500 channels of television on computer and in pocket

4Not Too Bad.
By davey b.
Have this hooked up to an intel Mac Mini that meets the minumum cpu speed specification. I'm learning more about this product and have updated this review three times. Overall very happy with the product, this should not be considered a negative review, although I talk about the areas I am having problems. The product provides an excellent picture up to 1080i and de-interlaces the output realtime. I used a higher quality component cable than the one that came with the unit, and was able to improve the DVR picture slightly but perceptibly. Could not find my cable box (Mediacom in California, Pace DC700X HD) listed, but was able to snoop around and found settings designed for another set top that worked without too much effort. TVGuide had a couple of the HD channels mis-scheduled or mislabeled for my cable provider. El Gato contacted TVGuide for me and had the schedule repaired. TVGuide was slow (took over a month) but El Gato was very responsive with keeping me updated and letting me know when the guide was fixed. Meanwhile the EyeTV software had the scheduling flexibility to work around the inconvenient annoying problems with the schedule guide once I understood them. The remote that comes with the unit initially had a serious problem but el gato fixed it with a SW update. The supplied remote still seems to be a bit weak and highly directionally sensitive at about 18 ft. I prefer my apple remotes that came with my computers as they work better and control the EyeTV software adequately. These are $20 from Apple. Some important common functions however on Apple's remote require you to hold down a button, and if you forget you will get sent into FrontRow, Apple's bundled multimedia player software.Overall the product is not idiot-proof, as other family members might get lost at times using the product. I found the pause, rewind and FF in live HD TV to be very smooth and useable. Programming the software to record favorite shows or movies is very easy. Watching Live streaming TV on the IPad in the house over WiFi worked well as long as the software was not trying to perform other tasks at the same time. I found the streaming HD video to the ipad a bit soft and not completely up the the capabilities of the ipad display. I actually transcode all my video to H264 and then stream it the the "Air Video" app on my ipad ($2.99 from inMethod avail on iTunes). Also found that the EyeTV software is multitasking, but does not use good judgement when scheduling tasks. The software would start tasks in the background (like exporting video for iTunes/iPod) when I was watching or streaming Live/Recorded TV, and the live/recorded video would become too jerky to watch (remember I have the slowest computer supported). One time when away for a week the system recorded a string of movies. At a specific point something went wrong and the video/audio began skipping and the sound was not synchronized - don't know what caused it. This would have gotten fixed if I had been home checking on things, but once it occurred it did not self correct and destroyed about 10 scheduled recordings. So the system needs to be monitored a bit. Some families use DVRs exclusively when watching live TV. I will do that comfortably with this product, but other family members will prefer direct interaction with my cable box, foregoing the benefits of DVR. This is a bit of a problem, because they will end up changing the channel in the middle of a recording. Ideally if I were really serious, I would get another cable box exclusively for DVR.Been eyeing a mac DVR purchase for years, and El Gato has now produced a product that I will buy. I have the ability to record all 200 channels coming out of my cable box including premium HD content. I am using the product to record 1080i video, then edit the endpoints of the recording, and export to 720p for TV and iPad. It produces a 5Mbps 720p that works on both the iPad and the TV. I move these recordings to iTunes. This process requires quite a bit of interaction with the software and I wish it was a bit more automated. Tried a FW800 drive and EyeTV Turbo H264 to offload some I/O / Processing related to exports. Transcodes video faster but does not release CPU for streaming video. Still exploring the capabilities, querks and limitations of the product, but overall very happy.Wish List: EyeTV software should provide option to manually pause exports as well as automatically pause all exports / edits while recording / watching / or streaming video. Exports should also pause when the EyeTV software is quit, and resume then the software is restarted. This will add the fifth star.

5Wish I got this years ago
By Malcolm Murphy
The EyeTV HD is an outstanding little product.I purchased the EyeTV HD after waiting patiently for several years for DirecTV to offer their DirecTV2PC service to Mac users. After using EyeTV, I realized that I wouldn't want DirecTV2PC even if it were available. EyeTV's DVR software is far better than TiVo or DirecTV DVR, granted that's mainly because it can be controlled with a keyboard and mouse, but also because of additional features like custom channel lists and advanced searching.I originally thought I wouldn't be able to use the EyeTV HD as my computer was slightly slower than the product's minimum system requirements (2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, I have a 2.16GHz). I contacted Elgato asking if it would still work, and received a prompt response explaining that I may not be able to use progressive deinterlacing, which is indeed the case (unless I have absolutely nothing else running). The motion-adaptive deinterlacing works just fine, though. My only complaint is that the only audio in is stereo RCA, and does not support digital audio. I'd also like to see a dual tuner model, although I'd need a new competur before then.I was skeptical of using component video (HDMI is not possible because of copy protection). I use a Samsung P2770HD display, so I can switch between EyeTV and my DirecTV reciever (HDMI direct to display), and EyeTV actually looks better. This product does everything I need it to and more. Bottom line: EyeTV HD is a great product and value.

5Great Machine for Beginners and Experts
By Orianna
This was my first sewing machine (that wasn't borrowed) and it's lasted more than eight years with almost no trouble. The light bulb hasn't even burned out yet! It's done everything I've asked of it, from sewing jeans, to corsets, to Victorian ballgowns. It has plenty of stitch variations, especially for a basic, starter machine. As I recall, it came with six presser feet: regular Zig-Zag foot, 1/4" Quilting Foot, Zipper Foot, Button Foot, Automatic Buttonhole Foot, and one that isn't in the manual, but which I suspect is an Invisible Zipper Foot. It also came with a darning plate, an extra thread spindle, and a screwdriver.I love how easy it is to use! Everything about it is simple and straightforward. The downside: the motor is a bit touchy. If you don't press on the foot pedal hard enough, the motor will stall out and whine without going anywhere. But if you press too hard, it takes off sewing before you're ready. For this reason, my beginner students are a bit intimidated by it. They tend to err on the side of caution, which means they don't press hard enough on the foot pedal, and so they're constantly revving the motor without actually stitching. But once you're accustomed to the machine, you learn exactly how hard to hit the pedal to get it going, and then it's no trouble. Just takes getting used to.Occasionally, with really thick fabrics, I have to hand crank it to get the needle through, like when sewing through too many layers of denim, but just at the cross-over seams. For regular seams, it does just fine, even with thicker fabrics like denim and corduroy.Oh, and one time the entire needle assembly mechanism just fell off---plop! Right onto the corset I was sewing. Left a grease smear that I was quite unhappy about. Turns out, it requires the world's smallest Allen wrench, about the size of a toothpick. Once I had that, I was able to reattach the mechanism and everything was fine.Overall, the good far outweighs the bad in this machine. It's so easy to use, you hardly need the manual (which is good, because the manual is kind of worthless). Just keep it maintained (regular oiling and cleaning) and it should serve you well for many years!Update (May 2012): After nine and a half years of impeccable sewing, my machine started skipping stitches badly. I suspect the timing needs adjustment--a simple enough procedure, but one that will cost more than the machine is worth. I elected to retire my Brother XL-5130 and buy a new sewing machine. It saddens me, because we've been through a lot together . . . but perhaps someday I can get the timing fixed and keep it as a spare sewing machine.

5CLASSIC PEDAL
By Charlo
I have an original '80s version of this pedal- not the reissue, but it's the same as I understand. This pedal has always been a permanant fixture on my pedalboard. I get complemented on my tone and I almost always have to attribute it to the small box RAT and low wattage EL84 goodness! It sounds good running into a solid state amp but it's pure bliss when you run it into a decent tube amp. Many rock and roll greats have used this pedal on countless recordings. Over the years, I'd managed to lose the battery cover. I shot the company an e-mail and within a WEEK they sent me a new cover- AT NO CHARGE. This was more than TWENTY years after I purchased the item. No questions about warantee info. No hassles about my store receipt. I'd call that INCREDIBLE customer service. Highly recommended!

5Uberduper!
By R. Siebenaler
It wouldn't be the whole truth to call this just a distortion pedal. It does overdrive sounds really well and on highest gain starts to sound like a fuzz box. It really excels at the Marshall distortion tones though. Think JTM45, Plexi, and JCM800 sounds. It has great headroom although it is 9 volt. The only knocks I can think of is that it's a little noisy with hum something like 60 cycle single coil pickup hum. Also, it takes a 1/8" adapter plug and not the Boss style plug. So you won't be able to run it from a power block. Other than that it's built like a tank, it's versatile, and sounds awesome. Classic, this is a keeper.

I do believe that this is the best distortion pedal, EVER! More versatile than you would think with only 3 knobs!

A small herd of cattle and a couple thousand hours later and here's the Travel Case. I set out to make a great toiletry bag, but ended up using it for my tools, then my hot wife commandeered the small one for her makeup. I've heard it's "perfect" for lunches, first aid, sewing, ammunition, organizing desks and trucks and for all that medicine old people have to take. Personally, I love it.

5Simply the best. Period dot.
By J David Martin
When it comes to leather products, full grain is the way to go.When it comes to full grain leather, Saddleback is the best.Just go to Saddlebackleather.com and read Dave's leather 101 page. It's really common sense once you open your eyes to it, and after purchasing a Saddleback product, you'll simply never look at leather the same way again. Saddleback is not a big name, it seems to be smaller company run by one guy and his family. I believe the design their products, then have them made in Mexico. I cannot stand to walk into a "Coach" store after owning Saddleback's products. That cheap garbage they pass off as "quality" leather is an insult to the craft. The same goes for Louis Vuitton, or however you spell that guys name. If you're looking for the real deal, stop here.I bought the medium travel case in chestnut for my wife as an anniversary gift this February. While the case is obviously designed for a dopp kit, it works equally well for her Canon camera. I had just purchased one of their satchels for myself in January, and I was blown away by the quality. I knew I had to get her one of their bags when the anniversary came up.The design of the travel case is very unique. The bag itself is made from one piece of lether, shaped and stiched to form a "box" shape with a lid. Then there are several other small pieces that make up the handle, the closure, and the strap. You'll notice the strap itself is actually 2 layers of thick full gran leather, making it extremley sturdy. If you've never seen a "FULL" full grain leather product, anything made by saddleback will simply blow you away. The classic look and rustic styling speaks for itself. Just look at the pics and then imagine it 10 times better. Go ahead and order, you simply can't go wrong.

5Great little tool box or catch-all
By Donald Gillette
Couldn't ask for anything sturdier that'll last as long as I will. I originally planned to use this as a tool bag, but it's not quite big enough for all the tools I need around the house; e.g., a hammer. I use it now for my gun cleaning kits and ammo. It's perfect for that since it's 100% saddle leather--no moisture gets trapped inside. Plus...it's the coolest looking thing going.

5Beautiful Fixture
By Sam F.
This fixture is very attractive and gives off a nice amount of light. Some art glass fixtures are more decorative than functional - but, with bright bulbs, this one gives off enough light to be the main light in a room. We are very pleased with it.

4very pretty but small for a dining room

4Other Reviews Are Spot On
By Daniel F. Bowen
We bought the fixture for our foyer and it looks great. Due to it being close to the ceiling, it doesn't produce a lot of light. The directions for assembly were to a completely different fixture but we were able to puzzle through them. The main problem we had was lining the fixture and it's base to where it hung square to the walls and door. Our first try was a bit off. Yes, more green glass in it but ours had more royal blue, too. It's almost like they took spare pieces of glass and used those, not going for a uniform colored look. So don't expect your fixture to look exactly like the picture here, it doesn't. Be prepared for odd colored pieces of glass to make up the mosaic of this fixture.

532 inch Kidney Banded Wood Lazy Susan 2-shelf set
By Patricia Gingerich
I did a lot of research looking for the perfect lazy susan while having my kitchen remodeled. It is an extremely well made product (all wood except the pole) and the installer said that it was the best one he has ever installed. I can't believe how much "stuff" I put on both levels. Very sturdy and easy to turn. After having this one installed, I would probably never recommend metal or plastic. I would highly recommend this product.I received this very promptly (2-day free shipping).Pat - Modesto, CA

4Good - could be better
By B. A. Kottom
The item is very well built and easy to install. I'm picture oriented - a complete drawing of the shaft and parts would have been appreciated. I find that the stop for the top shelf will move out of square with the opening. I purchased a collar stop to keep it in place vertically and hit the shaft with a punch (after grinding the holding screw to a point) to keep it in place laterally.

4Not as pictured
By M. Keller
I have not yet purchased this product. In checking out the manufacturer's website I noticed that the product pictured here is the top of the line lazy susan (with an MSRP over $300) not the economy end of the line which is what the text describes. If you want what's pictured check out the rev-a-shelf website to compare:www.rev-a-shelf.comThis may be a fine product but it is not what is pictured.

5Transcend StoreJet Military-Grade Shock Resistance 750GB portable HDD
By Kirk-RS
Transcend 750 GB 2.5-Inch USB 3.0 Military-Grade Shock Resistance Portable External Hard Drive for Mac and PC TS750GSJ25M3I have owned and used a number of portable USB 2.5in external hard drives over the years. This one looks like the best of the bunch, out of the box. It is by far the most solidly constructed, whisper quiet, and hardly gets luke-warm to the touch.I had some concerns about USB 3.0 because it requires a separate power cable to give the drive enough juice to take advantage of the speed. I don't yet have a computer with USB 3.0, so I did not want to have to use the power cable for USB 2.0 transfers. Sure enough, the drive worked just fine on my old Dell E1505 laptop with just the data cable attached. The surprise came with my ASUS netbook. I often have to use a power cable to keep an external HDD connected. The Transcend works first time, every time, even when the netbook is on battery. In my experience, this is outstanding! My only issue thus far: I can't change the drive name from "Local Disk" to something more distinctive. I have not explored the "Elite" support software, so maybe the answer lies somewhere in there. If not, it will be part of my next contact with Transcend tech support. (UPDATE: No joy so far; I emailed Tech Support about this)Before purchasing, I called Transcend's branch in Maryland, and got through to a human being on the second try. Tech support assured me that if I was willing to violate the 3-year warranty, I could insert a 2.5in 1Tb or even a 1.5Tb drive in the enclosure, and it should recognise the drive. I will probably not be trying that for at least part of the warranty period, but it is comforting to know that I can get the anti-shock benefits of this product with a larger drive. It appears that there is still work to be done on the 1Tb+ 2.5in drives until they become genuinely reliable, so waiting awhile seems a good bet.UPDATE: One other possible weak point is the USB 3.0 aka SuperSpeed USB cable. It appears to be standard -- that is, it is not proprietary to the drive. However, these cables are still hard to come by, and they are costly. Best deal I could find online is about $20 for a very short cable. That's 20% of the cost of the drive! I imagine price will fall and availability will rise over the next year or so. In the meantime, it will be important to treat the cable very gently. It is by far the most vulnerable part of the package.

5The ideal 500GB self-contained portable hard drive.
By Klondike Kid
I shoot a lot of HD video footage on digital still cameras such as my GoPro HD Hero and Canon SX20IS which both use 32GB SDHC memory cards for storage. When I'm on the road its easy to fill a memory card with 2.5 hours of HD video long before my shoot is over. With this hard drive and my laptop nearby I can drop the memory card into a card reader connected to my laptop and dump the contents of the card to the Transcend HD while I continue to shoot on the second memory card. This keeps my smaller computer HD from filling up. And makes it easy to transfer the video back to my desktop machine later for editing. While I am around the house I use a wall plug USB power supply to connect the power cable to for powering the hard drive and keep the computer USB electrical load to a minimum. All the advertised features of this drive are spot on. So there is no need to repeat what others have touted. There are a few things to mention which might be helpful. I run Mac computers and this hard drive is very Mac-compatible. Just use Disk Utility to format the drive as OS extended or OS extended Journaled. And you are rigged and ready to store. The running light indicates the drive is spinning. After about 10 minutes of inactivity my drive goes to sleep and spins down so that there is minimal power usage which is especially important if you have it connected to your laptop on battery power. NOTE: Unplugging the USB power cable from the hard drive WILL NOT shut it down if the USB 2.0/3.0 cable is still connected. It appears that power will also flow through the communication data cable if you pull the power plug first. Maybe not such a good idea since they provide two cables for a reason. Plug in the Power Cable first, then the data cable. Use Eject Disk in your Finder window to unmount the disk and then disconnect the cables. For MAC the USB 3.0 feature and benefits are UNUSED right now. Mac computers are not yet configured with a USB 3.0 bus. But the Mac Pro tower can probably be configured with a PCI Express USB 3.0 expansion card to accommodate this faster transfer speed. I just don't know if the rest of the mother board bus speed can handle this 5 Gigabit/sec speed. Probably best to wait until Apple comes out with a box that has built-in USB 3.0 engineered into the machine's circuitry. The 500GB hard drive is ideal for using with Mac's Time Machine for backing up your laptop and also for carrying large files such as high definition video clips from one desktop to another. For travel protection I purchased the CaseCrown Hard Case made specifically for this Transcend StoreJet portable USB hard drive. I highly recommend this "hard" case for anyone purchasing the Transcend hard drive to travel with. Its extreme protection for the drive. CHEAP too. Search it on Amazon.NOTE UPDATE: November 2012. Apple has just announced their latest iMac computer line and now those computers are equipped with four USB 3.0 ports and two Thunderbolt ports. The MacBook laptops also have USB 3.0 & Thunderbolt but the MacPro tower still has USB 2.0 and no Thunderbolt until the next generation launch. On the down side, Apple no longer provides a DVD DISK BURNER in their latest iMacs. :-(

5Perfect...
By Hollywood
Does exactly what it says it does, and seems to be solidly constructed. I like the portability, and am more comfortable with it being shock resistant. It's nice not having to plug it into a wall adapter as well. I have performed numerous backups and have yet to experience a problem.
