Rugged Business traveler approved

I spend 10 months out of the year traveling around the world with bands. In and out of planes, tour buses, ferries, etc I've learned the key is to have a strong reliable suitcase. I mean I live out of it 10 months out of the year. It is one of the best investments I ever made. It has survived countless plane trips, hotel rooms etc. I love this thing. Wheels are large and well made. The warranty program is one of the best things. One of my other fellow roadies told me one of his ripped once and he contacted them. The next morning, there was a loaner bag at the front desk, and an empty box and shipping label for his ripped one. 3 days with the loaner bag, he was sent his newly fixed bag washed cleaned and well revamped. 2 Warranty repair centers in the US, one here in NY the other in Cali. So wherever you are, they will fix it and ship without an issue. Highly highly recommend anything in their BRX product line. Solid product.

A sweet bag for equipment and long term trips!

Having owned a cheap (Costco) rolling duffle from when I was 15, I felt the need to get a peice of luggage that was an upgrade in terms of durability, lightweight-ness, and high visibility. This bag does all three exceptionally, but it's not cheap and I'm fine with that. As a photographer, having to bring portable lighting solutions halfway around the planet is pretty standard. I would rather have my bag take a beating and not my equipment. The fact that Briggs & Riley backs all of their luggage with a lifetime repair policy (sans shipping) is an indicator that I can feel secure about leaving $2000.00 worth of gear in my bag. Also, I love the fact that this duffle has zero slump to it. Being in a populated space and having your bag tip over (due to no rigidity) gets old real fast. In addition, I love the color (ocean) as I can find it quickly coming off the carousel. And it might sound cheesey, but this bag rolls like heaven, the wheels are rubberized and minimizes the bounce when going over textured pathways, which my electronics appreciate.If I had to make one complaint (which is pushing it) I wish for $300, bags like this would include a dirty laundry drawstring bag. My carry-on has one for clothes and one for shoes. It's a classy touch.That being said, (unless I have a major calamity) I'm sold on Briggs & Riley.

Overall good, but rolling handle does not lock.

Quite well made.A few points to condsier however. The zippers are not metal; some sort of plastic. My best guess is that they will not hold up for the long haul. The extending roll handle does not lock in the closed position. My result? It opened in the belly of the plane (or during handling by airline, security or customs inspectors) where is was broken by falling on or being crushed by other baggage (or by the aformentioned professionals) ending with both extensions being snapped off. This left me with non-rolling luggage, sharp edges and the (not entirely unexpected) Delta luggage complaint/pass-the-blame dept. telling me that "Oh, no we don't cover wheels, buckles, or handles because they break ALL THE TIME." I haven't had Briggs & Riley fix it yet but I did make 3 clicks on their website, filled out a short form and have an RMA# in hand. So smooth sailing so far with their vaunted repair policy.We shall see.
