Good Little Amp For The Price

This is decent little amp for the price. More on sound quality in a moment, but it is well-built, has great functionality and controls and makes a terrific little desktop or auxiliary amp. Very flexible: it is very small and will fit anywhere, and it has tone and balance controls and takes five different inputs: three traditional line-level AUX/CD inputs, one USB input with play controls for accessing and play/pausing sound files directly off a memory stick, and a Microphone input with a dedicated MIC volume. Really an incredibly flexible product for an incredible price. A great little amp for those small jobs like an iPod based poolside system, desktop system for computer sound, or lightweight PA or music mixing or even Karaoke duties I suppose. It also has some very nice punch for a 40W x 2 stereo amp - more than enough for small rooms. I'm tempted to give it five stars except for one thing: this is not an audiophile amp. For this price it is not supposed to be, but if you are really picky about sound and plan to listen to it through speakers which have good resolution and transparency, you will find the sound a little bit sub-par. I'm using it with a nice pair of Monitor Audio speakers, and, while it is not bad, the high end is a little honky and nasal-sounding and there is some mid bass emphasis. It's not terrible - most people wouldn't notice or care (again, especially for this price), but it is definitely not a sparkling clear and transparent amp we are talking about here. For example, I got it to replace a 25 year old NAD 7225 receiver relegated to desktop duty whose power supply finally quit on me, and there is a definitely perceptible difference in sound quality. True this Pyle is new and hasn't had a chance to really warm up and break in, and NADs are famous for the quality of their sound, so this is not surprising, but I mention it as a heads up to people who care a lot about sound and have sharp ears. Otherwise, great product.

Such a deal!

I bought this for a room in the basement. I have two gigantic speakers that require a low wattage amplifier. My other amp is older than dirt and has a channel out. It needed replaced but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I'm cheap, so I took a chance on this product.For the price, the PTAU23 is great. It is simple, yet functions very well. The unit has treble and base controls, a USB port, volume controls and input jacks.If you need an amp and don't want to spend tons of money or don't need an amp to blow your socks off, I would recommend the PTAU23. It works perfectly.

this unit works excellent,, only thing i have a concern about,, is,, the rca inputs are a little weak,, as i plugged in one set of cables to try out the unit and when i unplugged the cables, the metal contacts came out of the back of the unit. i thought about sending it back,, but i just fixed it and moved on,, really does work well, so im keeping it. only the unit deserves a 3 rating,,for the qc dept at pyle,furthermore amazon {ROCKS} the shipping and the packaging that was shipped in was outstanding,, thanx amazon.
