Since January 2012 the production of the Stabile iPad (2.0) second generation has proven its changes that include new features like fully protective wrapped holding pad locations and improved non-skid black feet, both of which the design came from the Stabile PRO Pivoting iPad Stand model. Made with an unique engineered shape and solid steel for weight and strength (1/8" thick), the Stabile 2.0 iPad Stand is an artistic structure that is extremely stable even with a weight reduction (30%) from its predecessor. One of the technical challenges we accomplished is lowering the center of gravity (CG) with your iPad in place. Lowering the CG in combination with the weight of the steel allowed us to give you the iPad feel required for our Stabile 2.0 iPad Stand. Designed for easy daily use, that is why it works without or with a case or skin in portrait or landscape, while also looking attractive. Keyboard, iPad and case not included. WARNING READ THIS FIRST I HAVE TWO

I have two of the original Stabile Ipad Stands. The ones that you see all the rave reviews about and I agree they were five star awesome. What was that. Yes, were. I ordered a new one on Amazon and I did notice that the name now says 2.0 and is the only one available so why wouldn't it be as nice as the original. Well here we go. Got this stand in and first thing I noticed that the box was so light. The good ones, that the reviewers have, are the heavy ones, almost five pounds of steel goodness. This new stand is half the weight and half the thickness of steel / half the materials, and half the quality and get this, full price. Amazon doesnt mention this in its ad copy, the manufacturer doesnt mention that the model has changed, and that the specs are so different. The materials and metal quality matches exactly the Griffin A-Frame for iPad in silver that is twenty nine bucks here on Amazon. Hmm seventy five for the Stabile 2.0 or twenty nine for the Griffin for the same metal. I wish I was exaggerating. I was stunned when I pulled the Stabile 2.0 from the box, then you probably heard me barking what the hel*. Yeah I felt ripped off for sure.So I sent the manufacturer, Thoughout Company an email explaining I was a return customer and I had purchased on Amazon from them, and some more detail on the differences in the good versus the bad of the models and how surprised I was when the order arrived since there was no indication that the stands quality had plummeted like it had. No explanation was forthcoming from Mike the owner other than the "original was available." That was it, nothing more. Dont know where it was available because he didnt say. Not on Amazon, and not on the Thoughtout website. He didnt offer to help at all with refund or replacement, nothing. Ended up ordering a factory blemished original version since I couldnt find a new one anywhere. The long and short of this is that I dont want you to be disappointed like I was thinking you were getting the original heavy Stabile Stand when you will not. I needed the extra heavy weight because my cat likes to jack with the ipad, and with the original Stabile he cant knock it off. Thoughout Company do the right thing and bring back the real one instead of charging seventy five bucks for a Griffin Stand, or at least dont sell it under the reviews of another product (and just changed the name) that was far superior to the "Stabile 2.0" which I give two stars. Amazon returns A+

Stabile Steel iPad stand

I have tried other stands which worked but were too easily upset due to their light weight. I finally purchased the Stabile Steel iPad stand from Amazon.com and am very happy with it. I avoided the purchase at first due to it being much more expensive than what I had been using. However, I now have found that it truly was worth the price for me. It is very stable and grips the iPad very well to avoid slipping from the stand even if you tilt it somewhat in moving the stand from place to place. I consider this stand a real winner!This stand is not only handy for my iPad, but I also get good use of it for supporting my Kindle DX, when I am using it to read e-books.Placing the stand on a lap desk makes a very convenient, hands-free, combination for viewing the iPad or Kindle while relaxing in my recliner.

The sturdiest out there.

This stand for the ipad surpasses anything else out there. Most of the stands on the market are designed to hold the ipad without a case and that fact is sometimes overlooked when purchasing. My ipad is encased in a switcheasy Cara case so it's fairly thick and I don't like removing the cases from my electronics rather it be the ipad, ipod, phone, etc. It's too much of a hassle with some of the more protective cases. My husband has a Piel leather case that also works with this stand.This products does not move around and holds my ipad securely in vertical or horizontal position with the case on. It doesn't move when you touch the screen. It remains quite steady even while sitting on uneven surfaces such as the towel that I use to cover my printer when not in use. I haven't had any problems with the pads on the bottom of the unit or the ones that secure the ipad as some people have. I think the problem is because of the rough finish on the stand, it's difficult to apply die cut pads and expect them to stay in place. In my opinion a little gorilla glue will fix that. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars is because you can't adjust the angle and it's a bit pricey.I don't necessarily have a problem with the angle unless I have it sitting on top of my printer, but I can see why some people would complain about it not being adjustable. Also, if you are looking for a stand to travel with I would not recommend this item as it is heavy and designed to be a more permanent fixture in the home or office. Anyone looking for sturdy traveling stands that stay in place, I would recommend the Jadu Skadoosh, It's a well machined piece of metal and heavier than most traveling stands but folds to a compact size and holds the ipad with a case and also has adjustable angles and comes with a traveling pouch.
