good on USB, but unreliable on eSata

I love the Apricorn padlock drive, I have two; one 'regular' 640 and one 'pro' 640.Both perform with acceptable speeds for an encrypting device.However, I have never gotten the eSata interface to work reliably. I would be interested to read comments to the contrary. Anyway, here is what I mean by 'unreliable':* device is recognize just fine.* device transfers files to-and-fro* BUT, when I hash the file on the source and destination, they are different. This doesn't happen when using the USB interface. During this test, I transfer ~100GB files.* this was done on a different machines, with different eSata interfaces, with the same results* this was done with a different eSata external drive (actually a KingWin ezDock), with successI can only conclude that the eSata capability is defective in some way. It would be nice because it transfers (albeit with errors) at about twice the speed of USB. But, at least the USB is reliable...BTW, for those having trouble with getting the eSata to work at all, I use WinXP 32-bit, and I have to plug it in before booting up, with the auxilliary power cord, and have to shut the computer down before removal. I.e. not hot-swapable. Also, I enter my password during the bootup process before it gets to the OS loading. Maybe this helps someone.Also, for those having trouble 'safely removing' (from USB), make sure that there are no locks on the drive, i.e. no open files or even directories (e.g. no explorer windows, or command prompts). Then you can safely remove. Well, you may have to try more than once to wait for caching to finish writing, but it will happen (this happens even on other drives/thumbdrives). If you don't have the 'safely remove' icon in your tray, you can use%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dllto bring up a similar but more detailed UI for removing.

I only have the device for about two weeks.Although the device appears to be a bit slow, it does a decent job.I have couple issues with it though.1 - I have not been able to make it work on the eSata port. It is not recognized at all.2 - So far, I have NOT been able to eject it gracefully from Windows. Any time I try, I get device busy. I actually have to pull the plug (USB cable). This makes me uncomfortable since the data can be lost. And, when dealing with encrypted data things can get complicated.3 - The device appears to be a bit slow. I can live with this as long as my data is protected and accessible.

Excellent performance, but limited life span in industrial environment

These drives work great. Using hardware encryption is soooo much better than goofy software. We have several of these drives that were made bootable for servicing PCs and we have no problem at all. They only seem to last around 18 months in our daily-use always-being-carried-around environment. That's just the cost of doing business for us. We keep buying them since they work so well. They should last longer for home use. DON'T BUY THE OTHER MODEL WITH INTEGRATED CABLE... Their other model has a USB cable built-in that can't be removed. We had a lot of problems with those not being recognized by some PCs at boot. Additionally, the cable is really short and you have to use a goofy extension cable.

Got what I paid for!

I learned a lot about color and clarity of diamonds when I married my wife. When I saw this item had a color of G-H for this price, I knew it was a deal. There were many selections of the style I liked (s-link) and the one I selected priced about $1,000 less then a site I have used many times in the past. Don't let the SI1-I1 turn you away from this item. All other bracelets have the same, if not less, clarity and with the 3ct divided over 44 stones, you can not see any inclusions anyway.

A great bracelet - but keep your expectations realistic!

First, let me say I am happy with the bracelet. It's 7 inches, the white gold is very sparkly, and though its a bit light weight and delicate, I'm very pleased with the look. BUT, be forewarned that you should keep expectations realistic. The diamonds are a nice size, but if you look closely under bright light you'll see that most are slightly to moderately cloudy. I'm fine with this for a couple reasons: 1. the diamonds are clearly rated I2-I3 (the lowest end on diamond clarity) and 2. the price for 3 cttw of diamonds is (I think)still a great bargain. I was honestly afraid that for the price I was paying the diamonds would be 100% cloudy and nearly yellow, but this is not at all the case. In normal lighting all you see is a feminine, eye-catching sparkle. (But perfectionists be forewarned, these are not super high end diamonds).As a tip, try going to the Netaya website directly. When I ordered, I found they had a 30% off holiday discount code advertised on their home page that wasn't listed here. So I ended up getting this bracelet for only $600 after a website discount and 30% additional post-holiday discount. The Netaya website also offers free 2nd Day Air Shipping, which is nice.The clasp is slightly awkward at first, but after a couple times of taking if off/on I am able to pretty easily get the bracelet on/off by myself. The bracelet is a bit delicate, so I'm not sure that I'll wear it every day, but there is a snug safety bracket on the clasp, so I wouldn't be afraid to wear it out for special occasions.Bottom line: I'm quite happy with the bracelet and would buy it again, particularly at the sale price. But know what you're buying, and don't expect super-clear, super-sparkly diamonds or you will be disappointed! (Of course for 3 cttw of high end diamonds I think you'd end up spending $5K minimum!)

A great case that fits well and is well made and handy.

My mandolin came with one of those inexpensive (well, relatively) black feaux-leather cases with the furry liner and cheap clasps; it was brand new and the top wouldn't close properly without putting pressure on the bridge.So I cast about to find a replacement and came on this item. It arrived today, well packed in an oversized box and made an impression as soon as I saw it.I'm used to using fine cases in carrying antique firearms around and wanted that kind of quality in this case and I got it in spades. The case is apparently made in the USA, though I can't find a marking either way, and is very nicely put together. The chrome-plated latches are only one step up from the cheesy gold-colored ones on the old case but at least don't look as cheap and tacky. The inner is foam-lined with the usual phony fur surface but it fits my Rover much better than did the first one.I had thought about giving only a four-star rating thanks to the cheesy latches, but then, locks only keep out friends and any lock is only as strong as the container it secures; these are enough for this case.All-in-all, this is a fine case for the money and I look forward to it keeping my baby safe from harm for a long time. There may be those who disagree, but I can recommend this one to anyone without reservation.

Well worth the money!

I am not a technical person. I buy things and expect them to work well at default settings. I had a Radeon HD5770, which is a very decent card. Playing SC2 at Ultimate graphics setting is beautiful. However, the card overheated in just a few hours of play. If you have seen an HD5770, you'd know it is encased in a plastic enclosure, with a tiny fan to cool the fast processing GPU. The card's temperature was 70C at idle, when all of my other components are at 35-40C. It wasn't cheap too! In search for a replacement, I couldn't not find any higher grade Radeon graphic cards that "appears" to have better cooling, then I saw the ZOTAC. Two massive fans, exposed heat-sink pipes, this has to be cooler than my HD5770! Although it costs almost twice as much as my HD5770, I decided I'd rather have something that doesn't break so fast. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The card, as expected, was massive. It takes up three slots. It runs ~47C at idle, and never went above 60C even after many hours of game play at the highest settings. I didn't overclock the card or do anything fancy. I just plugged it in, connected the two PCI-E power cables, then it just worked. Downloaded the latest driver, and all the colors came in beautifully. A few distractions though:- The PCI-E cables came with the card looked cheap for a $350+ card. I have a modular PSU, and used my own cables, so that didn't bother me.- The CD that came with the card is worthless. You can download better utilities online for free.- The card, is massive, and the fan case may feel a bit flimsy. It's high quality, feels medal, I just don't know how to hold the card, and felt like I'd break it if I only hold it by the case. But that's not the problem it's installed.These are just my gripes, but I still had to give it 5 stars. It just works, and stays cool, which is exactly what I was looking for!

Excellent Watch very durable crystal very strong hard to scratch I work with steel and chains and have not scratched crystal yet . The band is annoying hard to keep strap secured tight so it causes your wrist to hook on stuff . Velcro strap is better just has to be replaced in about two years otherwise it falls apart same goes for rubber strap. So watch will out last straps after 4 years .This is my third LUMINOX NAVY SEALS WATCH IN 15 YEARS WAS ABLE TO SELL OLD WATCHES STILL WORKING JUST COULD NOT FIND BATTERIES THAT WOULD LAST AS LONG AS THE BATTERY THAT COMES WITH WATCH. WHICH LAST 3-5 YEARS

Excellent Card w/ Issues. // Reviewed Post

I wanted to revisit this post to be fair with this excellent card, below is my review rewritten to account for most recent experiences.-----------------------------------------------------This card is great, excellent graphics very acceptable sound levels, a plus is that it already comes a bit overclocked but from my experience there is room for even more.The performance is awesome and running it with a Corei7 920 OCd to 3.2. On a HD monitor I am able to max out on graphics and the card load does not go to the top (usually peaks around 70%). Beware this will be different with newer games and higher res monitors.OLDER ISSUE ---> Fan speed fixed at 44%, my card runs hotter than it should, the "auto" fan speed does not work and fans remain at 44% until the card gets too hot and the whole system shuts down.--- REVIEWED ---> With the newest Nvidia Drivers fans worked fine and card temps are quite manageable.OLDER ISSUE ---> I thought I might be having issues with the hot air exhausting into the case, that is a minus for me and probably would have chosen a different model that takes the hot air out of the case. Afterwards I improved air circulation, but still if forget to set the fans manually to 100% speed before playing graphic demanding games the card eventually shuts down the PC.--- REVIEWED ---> This card requires a full tower case with plenty of fans, I just did not have enough air movement with my older case. I upgraded to a NZXT Phantom, 4x140 + 2x200 fans, enough to move all the hot air out of the componentes chamber and to keep the GPU temps in check. Running stress tests I've got peak temps of 75° celsius and fans around 60% (remember the newest driver is also lendign a hand here.OLDER ISSUE ---> Then I wrote in ZOTAC's forum regarding the fixed fan speeds, but no one has answered in a week yet.--- REVIEWED ---> I had some answers but at the time I already realized the main problem was my case, so I did not implement the card until it arrived and when installed the old problems disspeared. To be fair, the answers I was given I am sure will get me rid of the problems and made me able to use my older case, but I did not mind anymore.Final thoughts: excellent card, but at the tag price you will be better off buying a GTX 580. I'd go with Zotac easily for that one too, or if you want that much muscle, the 590 is already announced...

amazing Card, if you want a gtx 480 i dont see any version to buy except this, i bought this after owning a gtx 480, the performance on stock clocks 700mhz isnt that much of a difference from my gtx 295 but when you oc this beast you find its real powerthis is the best gtx 480 version because it runs very cool and you have lots of OC headroom to increase the performancehave a 3 slot isnt that of a big issue though, i just wish the card is made with a better quality like evga do

The Zotac Amp GTX 480 is one amazing card. First, the temps are insanely cooler compared to the temps on a stock GTX 480. While running Furmark, I reached only 68c degrees using xtreme burn-in mode. The funny part is that the fan speeds were only running at 44%. As a result of the lower fan speeds, the card remained very quiet. I could not perceive the noise difference between idle and load. When I'm just gaming the temps reach 55-60c degrees. In idle mode the card sits at 34 degrees. This is a very cool running card, and by far the quietest card I ever owned. Just make sure you have good air flow in your case, because this card exhausts all the heat into the case. If you are in the market for a GTX 480, I would recommend the Zotac Amp edition. You get a slightly overclocked card and a way better cooling solution.

very pleased

well i just got a pair of this for my fender SF Super Reverb and i'm very pelased, the sound is very close to my C10Q but adds the bell like sound on the highs and just the right amount of raunch with the vol of the amp on 7.5 pushing it with a pedal, if you're in a budget get the C10Q they sound very good too, i still have not play them alone at high volume (just with the C10Q in a x pattern) but i guess they should provide a very good tone once they are brokenI have my SFSR very close to a wall on the back and i get very good lows, maybe i need to eq more on the mids, i'm, pushing the amp with a marshall BB pedal and it gives me the tone i want, i was playing the other night my SFSR and my marshall DSL with a 4x12 V30's and a G12H30 anniv and a private jack and the SR with the jensens did keep up on the tone and volume with the marshall (which was not dimed of course)if you're trying speakers to seewhat you like i'm sure you would like them , but it seems people either love them or hate them so in the end is just a matter of personal tastei use them to play classic rock

Not bad.

I got this cheap - can't remember now - 80$ or something. It is smaller than I expected, comes across as somewhat cheap - with all the plastic - but seems solidly constructed. There is very little Base to speak of but is easily driven and is quite loud with excellent sound reproduction and clarity (not tinny at all) - (minus the Base). Would i have bought it had I known how little base it produces? Probably not, but it does work well and it is quite small and very good for voices etc etc.

Excellent for the price

This center speaker adds the dimension to my seven speaker music system that I expect. I use it between a pair of Mission's MV-8s and 2 pair of MV-2s on sides and back, driven by a Yahama RX-V1900. Its a very comfortible listening enviroment. The black plastic lamenent makes this line of Mission speakers look cheap. But the price reflects the use of the se materials.
