Power supply recommended by Yamaha: PA-130, PA-3C, or an equivalent.

Great for the Right Price

I bought this strictly for fun and I am not an experienced drummer. As a fun toy, it is great. Good quality for the $50 - $80 range.I have read a number of reviews about issues with pad contacts, but I have found this seems to be by design. If you strike the pads in the center, you get a loud response. If you strike further away from the center, placing less pressure on the sensor in the center, it produces a more subdued sound, not only in the volume, but also seemingly in the playback of the sampled sound. If you choose a higher toned drum, like a snare, the effect is more pronounced, almost silent when hit near the edge of the pad. However, deeper tone drums, like the toms, do not have as big an effect on sound when hit near the edge. Same with cymbals, striking the edge makes little difference in sound.I also read reviews about pedals added work backward. If you use Yamaha pedals, the polarity will be correct as long as the pedal is NOT depressed when powering on. Pedals from other manufacturers may need to have polarity reveresed for use on Yamaha products.Comes with the AC adapter and adequate wood drum sticks. The speaker in the unit is small, so it cannot be very faithful to the toms or bass drums, as you would expect. Definitely recommend cup style headphones or hooking up to a stereo system with a subwoofer.There is a nice feature which increases the sensitivity of the pads to allow playing by hand.One con to this model is the inability to save a custom kit. Once power is turned off, all changes are gone. However, it is fairly quick and simple to recreate your favorite kit.

The Beat goes on....

Bought as a gift for my grand daughter, and should have bought one for my son in law. (the next Ringo Starr)Product is as advertised, and well worth the money. Great way to teach a child rythm and in a round about way working with others. (playing along with recorded music on the Yamaha) She seems to really enjoy and so does her dad...... LOL!!!! Great for beginners.5 star for sure.

i thought this was amazing! I got it for christmas and the sound is awsome! it's a nice bold crisp noise! you can choose wich type of drum noise you want. I REALLY reccomend this for musicians. It comes with 2 drum sticks that are really nice. the sound is REALLY nice! i really think people will love it! i'm a child and i think this drum set is really neat!!
