Product Description
A new version of the Piuma, made using new, extraordinary, Crystal Clear silicone. This material offers a level of transparency that has never been seen before in the production of scuba diving masks. Although it still maintains the hypo-allergenic characteristics of the silicones used previously, Crystal Clear is so transparent that it is virtually invisible once the mask has been put on. In addition to the extraordinary transparency, this silicone boasts exceptional resistance to ageing and yellowing over time that is far greater than that of traditional silicones. Even the tendency to mist up is lower than with traditional silicone materials. The seal on the skirt has an original angle and offers comfort that has been unheard of up until now on a scuba diving mask, even after prolonged use. The special two-tone headband is made with a double injection system that allows a flexible elastomer element to be integrated into the structure. The buckles, that tilt sideways, are incorporated into the headband structure and, thanks to the elastomer element, are indestructible, even if completely flattened. The strap can be adjusted quickly and precisely, even when wearing thick protective gloves. The internal volume of the Piuma is sensibly reduced.

Great visibility and comfort. Not good for wall diving. See review

I bought the Cressi Piuma Mask - Clear mask from Dip 'N Dive and they were very quick to ship. The silicone skirt on the mask is very flexible and would comfortably fit many average face shapes and sizes. The clear skirt is excellent to extend your normal field of view beyond the mask frame. No, you can't see detail, but you've got enough, good peripheral vision to see any peer divers next to you and behind you that you can avoid bumping into them. I used the mask on 10 dives and one long snorkel event in Roatan Honduras. While snorkeling and while diving flat, landscape sites, the mask performed wonderfully. Again, the visibility through the glass was excellent and the fit was good so leaks were no problem.More than half the dives on the south side of Roatan are wall dives. This puts you in a near upright or sideways position looking at the wall. At depth, I found that the mask volume was high enough to create its own bouyant vessel that kept wanting to detach from my face. If I was vertical, the inner seal on my cheeks folded inward; if I was on my side, the upper side of the mask pulled so much that the lower side leaked around the upside of my nose. I found myself fighting to keep the mask clear of water. After I figured out what was going on, I tried keep the air pressure in the mask a little lower so the seal was better but that was not enough. I tightened the strap a bit, but the mask still pulled up making it uncomfortable while the extra tight mask made my forehead and temple area a little sore.I finally swapped the mask out for my older Dacor silicone mask and had none of the sample problems in the last 11 dives of the week. The Dacor mask has a lower volume and the sides are stiff (with age and design) making it unlikely that the little extra buoyancy the mask added would cause the mask to pull away from my face.I will continue to use the mask snorkeling, and diving in New England (brrrr) where there is nary a wall to worry about. If I go to a location with mixed wall and plateau, I'll swap the Cressi Piuma Evolution Crystal Mask out for a lower volume mask ONLY on wall dives. I'll use this style Cressi mask on all of the other dives.Be safe!
