The dog does not appear to have gotten on the counter. I don't know if she got zapped or not. The wife and grand son both did. Use with care, the grandson is too young to know what happened but the spouse just gets angry at you.

The description notes that this isn't for doorways, but we bought it to put in front of a sliding closet door that the cats put their paws under in the night and rattle to get our attention. It has worked wonders! I highly recommend it for a good night's sleep.

This is a great tool to teach your animals not to enter a place for their safety. A gentle shock, like when you rub your feet on the carpet and get a shock as you touch someone. My cat knew when I put it up across the tv (where he always jumped up). He jumped up and jumped off immediately and never did it again. He stretches to touch it with his paws to check it out, but he never jumps up! It is wonderful. Love this product.
