Took a chance and it's a winner in my opinion
By Jimmy
I wanted a short scale bass guitar and I like inexpensive items - that's a consistent theme of mine, the inexpensive part. I've got standard long scale 5-string and 4-string basses. I did some research and decided I'd try my luck on this guitar. It's hard to trust pictures but it really does look like the photo. Beyond playability and sound, I don't know of many musicians that don't want a nice looking axe. My band mates really like the look. This doesn't disappoint in function either. I had a friend, that's a professional musician and guitar technician, give it a once over and he was impressed with the quality. He had to do some adjusting to the saddles and the nut to get string height properly adjusted. All of the hardware is good quality. It has solid tuning machine heads that function easily. The neck is thin and has nice large frets. The controls knobs are solid and turn smoothly. I play rock and some funky slap bass and this sounds really nice. The electronics seems to be properly wired since there isn't any buzzing or interference when I'm recording. It's comfortable to play and has good balanced weight but isn't too heavy. I'd recommend it to anyone for an inexpensive bass for home use and even gigging out at the local bars. No, it's not a $3000 Warwick but that's the point. It's a great bass for under $200 - definitely worth the money IMHO. I've had it for several months now and I really do like this bass guitar.Oh yeh, you'll want to replace the strings that come with it. The factory likes to wind the strings on without using the tuning nuts to save time. This puts a twist in the strings that can produce excessive fret buzz. My friend, the guitar tech, showed this to me.

Great size

I highly recommend this product to anybody that wants to get into bass, but has small hands (ie children.) With the Stagg 3/4 bass, you do not need to have huge strong fingers in order to play it, so you can enjoy the bass, without the frustration of not being able to reach frets. Another good aspect is the beautiful wood finish. This bass truly looks like a piece of art. If you want to get into the bass, but feel constricted due to your size, look no further than the Stagg 4-string "fusion" 3/4 Bass- Natural Satin!
