5Outstanding WVU golf bag!!!
By Josh A.
I don't have the money for both a stand/fairway bag and a cart bag so I was looking for one that would handle the task of both (apparently this is difficult to find). The tripod stand mechanism is very solid and doesn't activate unless you press down on the short end of the bag. If you don't press down the bag actually sits well upright like a cart bag!Visually, the construction is nice. The navy blue of the bag is very close to what is on Mountaineer uniforms (other WVU bags online use a cheaper kind of blue). The gold on the bag isn't quite neon yellow you see on uniforms but it's a mix between that and the true old gold so I like it.I love that the bag has 14 individual slots for all your golf clubs (14 is the legal limit to carry anyways).I haven't filled out the cooler pockets but I think you could squeeze in 3 or 4 twelve ounce cans inside the zipper, plus there's a "cooler pocket" that you could squeeze another drink in (possibly a small botter of water for help in reading those greens). Both of the carrying handles (at the top and back) of the bag are very sturdy and make it easy to pull the bag in and out of my trunk and from a golf cart. The double back straps are well-designed and it makes it feel like your simply toting around a wide bookbag. The towel ring is well-placed off to one side.In the pictures you can't actually see the umbrella holder. What it has is a nylon loop at the bottom of the bag and a drawstring with place holder to secure the umbrella at the top end. I would rather there have been a proper tube for the umbrella holder but for $130 with tax the bag couldn't have everything right? The largest zippered pocket could easily hold a pair of shoes and a well-folded exchange of clothes. (When you get the bag this is what holds the zippered rain-hood).The zippered rain hood snaps on well on top of the bag as well. The zipper mechanism works well and if it started raining on the course it would not be inconvenient to use it over and over again to protect and take out my clubs.I'm not sure what the two triangular gold cushions are for on the other side of the bag but they look cool.I wish there was a Mountaineer on the bag (ala the Mountaineer statue outside the student center). I'll probably find a patch to put one on myself. All in all a great buy and I plan on using this bag until it wears out, which may outlast me even!
