Johnny Stewart Preymaster Digital Predator Call
By Roger L. Larson
This call works great. The sound is clear, even up max volume. The instructions say it will work up to 200 yards. I have tested it to 185 yards and everything worked as it should. You do have to have a clear line of sight. Any branches or brush in the way will block the signal. Reviews of other brands say they go through batteries quickly. I have used this a lot and have not had to change batteries.

Superb Vocalizations but Somewhat Fragil
By J. Cutler
Over the past four decades I have been an avid varmint caller, mostly for coyotes and bobcat. In the early years, mouth calls were the only basic thing available, then came some rather cumbersome and heavy electronic callers. Johnny Stewart was one of the leaders in bringing the electronic caller to market and then downsizing it for portability. I have several competing brands of electronic callers and most do a reasonably good job, but, IMO the vocalizations from the Johnny Stewart have seemed to be more productive. The Preymaster continues the trend of more compact and useable callers. I returned today from a multi-day hunt with several others and there was a consensus that the Preymaster was the best electronic yet in terms of useable calls, effective remote range, and ease of operation. I got several bobcat and fox, a half dozen coyotes and one nice mountain lion (!! my second one in forty two years) on this trip attesting to the call's effectiveness. Why not give it five stars? I suppose in an effort to keep cost competitive, they had to make it somewhat less robust than previous iterations. Some extra care is needed in transport and handling to assure that wire connectors don't get twisted or that the antenna coax isn't broken. That said, the two other hunters that were with me on this trip are lining up to buy their own Preymaster. The instructions should be more precise; a newbie may have some basic questions after reading the supplied instructions. One improvement would be to have a lower volume as the lowest setting is still a tad too loud. As noted, batteries are not included (4 AA and 1 9V). If a varmint caller wants to take things to a higher level, this unit may be a welcomed purchase.

Disappointing
By L. Plourde
I thought I'd upgrade from my Johnny Stewart attractor 2, that was a mistake, the preymaster4 is 5 times more expensive and alot less of a call... After having out in the feild a few times, I expected more. I'd recommend the attractor2 its less money and it works great... March 18,2011 Up date--I opened the receive unit and discovered the antenna wire was broken of the antenna jack so I soldered it.. The unit works fine now. Max range about 80 yards.
