Since January 2012 the production of the Stabile iPad (2.0) second generation has proven its changes that include new features like fully protective wrapped holding pad locations and improved non-skid black feet, both of which the design came from the Stabile PRO Pivoting iPad Stand model. Made with an unique engineered shape and solid steel for weight and strength (1/8" thick), the Stabile 2.0 iPad Stand is an artistic structure that is extremely stable even with a weight reduction (30%) from its predecessor. One of the technical challenges we accomplished is lowering the center of gravity (CG) with your iPad in place. Lowering the CG in combination with the weight of the steel allowed us to give you the iPad feel required for our Stabile 2.0 iPad Stand. Read This First I Have Two Stabile Ipad Stands

I have two of the original Stabile Ipad Stands. The ones that you see all the rave reviews about and I agree they were five star awesome. What was that. Yes, were. I ordered a new one on Amazon and I did notice that the name now says 2.0 and is the only one available so why wouldn't it be as nice as the original. Well here we go. Got this stand in and first thing I noticed that the box was so light. The good ones, that the reviewers have, are the heavy ones, almost five pounds of steel goodness. This new stand is half the weight and half the thickness of steel / half the materials, and half the quality and get this, full price. Amazon doesnt mention this in its ad copy, the manufacturer doesnt mention that the model has changed, and that the specs are so different. The materials and metal quality matches exactly the Griffin A-Frame for iPad in silver that is twenty nine bucks here on Amazon. Hmm seventy five for the Stabile 2.0 or twenty nine for the Griffin for the same metal. I wish I was exaggerating. I was stunned when I pulled the Stabile 2.0 from the box, then you probably heard me barking what the hel*. Yeah I felt ripped off for sure.So I sent the manufacturer, Thoughout Company an email explaining I was a return customer and I had purchased on Amazon from them, and some more detail on the differences in the good versus the bad of the models and how surprised I was when the order arrived since there was no indication that the stands quality had plummeted like it had. No explanation was forthcoming from Mike the owner other than the "original was available." That was it, nothing more. Dont know where it was available because he didnt say. Not on Amazon, and not on the Thoughtout website. He didnt offer to help at all with refund or replacement, nothing. Ended up ordering a factory blemished original version since I couldnt find a new one anywhere. The long and short of this is that I dont want you to be disappointed like I was thinking you were getting the original heavy Stabile Stand when you will not. I needed the extra heavy weight because my cat likes to jack with the ipad, and with the original Stabile he cant knock it off. With the 2.0 his tail will send it crashing its so light. Thoughout Company do the right thing and bring back the real one instead of charging seventy five bucks for a Griffin Stand, or at least dont sell it under the reviews of another product (and just changed the name) that was far superior to the "Stabile 2.0" which I give two stars. Amazon returns A+

Best iPad / Tablet Stand

This is the best iPad stand I've tried if you want something semi permanent on your desk. It's very well made, very heavy and stable. You can press the home button / use the iPad touchscreen without moving the stand which is the biggest problem with some other iPad stands.I'd definitely recommend it unless you want something that is smaller and more portable.I often put my iPad on this stand while I'm not using it, plug it in to charge and open up an app that displays interesting information (such as SlothCam for live webcams or Seasonality for weather data). It's nice to have my iPad displaying useful info while not in use and the viewing angle of this stand is perfect for that.I cans also easily slide the Apple Bluetooth keyboard under it to save space while not in use.

I originally bought this stand to use at work. I am an MD and I need to "take notes" while I am seeing patients. I wanted to prop my iPad up while I typed using a bluetooth keyboard. This stand keeps my iPad very secure and the viewing angle is perfect. Unfortunately, it is heavy. Very heavy. I carry my iPad and keyboard from room to room as I see patients and this stand is just simply too heavy to use in this setting. It is also awkward to carry. In fairness to the stand, I think it is meant to be a semi-permanent stand not portable. I wanted something sturdy enough so that I could set my iPad down on whatever horizontal surface was available without fear of it falling over and this is sturdy. It is a great stand just not for my work. I like it so much that I may keep it anyway and use at home.
