Product Description
Energy conservation is hardly a new idea at this point but rarely has it looked as fabulous as it does here. The Bistro Thermo Jug is made from plastic, silicone and stainless steel and utilizes a vacuum to keep hot and cold fluids at their desired temperatures a lot longer. An easy press on the lid opens the jug and lets the fluids flow. The lid closes automatically after each use so that the desired temperature is maintained a lot longer. Whether it’s used for ice tea in the yard, or simply for keeping hot herbal tea on the kitchen table – the 1.1l Bistro Thermo Jug serves all purposes and looks elegant doing so. Its classic stainless steel body certainly goes well with any kitchen or living room aesthetics.

Bodum Bistro Thermo Jug - First review (x2)
By Eric L
I rarely purchase products without reading reviews, but this is a new item and it was available in a Lightning Deal. Coincidentally, this will be the first review for this product and my first product review on Amazon.DESCRIPTIONI have experience with some Thermos Nissan products, all of which I love (namely the Thermos Nissan JMW500P6 16-Ounce Stainless-Steel Backpack Bottle, Silver, Thermos Nissan 26-Ounce Travel Companion Stainless-Steel Insulated Bottle, and Thermos Nissan 16-Ounce Stainless-Steel Food Jar). I would say this product is on par with those products, albeit in much higher price range. The outside is constructed of plastic. The inside is stainless steel. The top is easy to remove and is made of plastic with a silicone gasket that seals in the liquid. For those concerned about plastic leaching, the plastic top and pouring spout are the only plastic pieces that seem to be in contact with hot liquids, if only during the short journey between the inside of the jug and the inside of the cup. Amazon's description says the plastic is BPA-free, although there is no indication of it being BPA-free on the product box and there was no documentation included in the box. Cleaning the lid is a concern as it does not seem to come apart, but I will only be using it for tea, coffee, or water. The handle is a different, grippier texture than the rest of the container. To operate, you press the button down on the top and pour, which can be done with one hand. When the button is not depressed, no liquid will leak (at least for me), even when turned sideways and upside down. Be wary of any liquid that could remain in the cap after the button was lifted but wasn't poured out yet, and if you spilled any liquid between the cap and the vessel when filling. This overflow may "leak."TESTI washed this carafe out with hot, soapy tap water, leaving the hot water inside for about 5 min. [Note: You should always pre-heat all vacuum thermoses by filling it with hot/boiling water for a while before emptying it and filling it with your liquid of choice for optimal heat retention.] I filled up the vessel to capacity (about 1L) with heated water and noted the following temperatures and times (your mileage may vary):000 min - 195.5 degrees F060 min - 189.6 degrees F120 min - 183.5 degrees F180 min - 179.1 degrees FCONCLUSIONAs with all my Thermos products, the heat presumably escapes from the plastic, non-vacuum cap. Using an infrared thermometer, I did clock the lid surface temp at 80.4 degrees F when the middle of the side down to the bottom was about 67.6 degrees F (it gets warmer as you go up). The less you open it and the more full you keep it, the longer it will stay hot/cold.I can't speak for its form, as that is not typically my concern, but it serves its function. In terms of value, I think it's a bit expensive for what it is, but I'll keep it.

We use this as a tea pitcher and it keeps the ice from melting and stays cold a much longer time than using a standard pitcher. The shipping was real fast
