A little unconfortable

The magna-guide works as expected and holds a steady angle. However, I find it a little uncomfortable to use. If most of your knives have the regular 20 degree angle, I would recommend getting the DMT angle mate instead. A lot easier to use.If using it was the only issue with this kit I would give it 4 stars, but there is also another problem: The extra-extra-fine surface is awful. Knives get stuck on it (instead of sliding) and actually get duller, instead of sharper. The other 3 surfaces work fine.

its great for pocet knives.

not that good for larger knives. 5-6" ish is about max. i did do my 12" bowie with it, but that was a huge PIA. if the would have given a size range on what knives should be used i would gave it 5 stars, it does do a good job on small knives.

great products

I have this and the serrated sharpener tool and it has worked for every knife I have tried it on. It's a little tough with some longer knives(7"+), but it can still be used. I wanted the guide kit to get a feel for free hand sharpening, and to really help repair a damaged or uneven edge. It has done everything I expected, and I am constantly looking for more knives to sharpen around the house. I am not afraid to really use my good knives anymore!
