This works great for audio from my iPod - it charges, the remote works just fine and is simple and intuitive. I haven't tried it for video and I did not try to see how/if the audio sounded from the S-cable. :(It works with my older iPhone too. Even the remote works for the iPhone, all the buttons seem to do what they should. But, your iPhone will put out an audible interference (a low popping/crackling), even in airplane mode. The popping stays constant at a low db level and doesn't increase when you turn up the volume, so it would only be a problem for dynamic music like classical and opera as opposed to something straightforward like loud rock and roll. It wasn't meant to run an iPhone, but that it can, and have the remote work, is big plus. The iPhone also charges while in the cradle and didn't seem to overheat or anything.The built-in remote caddy does not charge the remote - it is just a caddy. If the designer could make a bigger version with more heft to it and recessed cable terminals, that would be stellar. Also: Intigrating a 30-second rewind feature would be great - that is really handy for podcasts. The RCA cables and power cord hanging out the back are ugly and now I have to figure out how to hide them since the unit is setting on the surface of my entertainment thingy.It is very nice having the remote now and not having to go up and delicatly adjust things on the ipod - and then knock it out of its chinsey little stand - and then have the headphone cable come undone and make the speakers pop and all that BS. This little guy resolves those issues.
