Watch the battery connector.

I ordered this mic a couple of weeks ago. When I tried to remove the battery to use it in another mic, a terminal on the battery connector broke off and was stuck inside the battery. The seller sent me a new one for nothing, that mic the battery connector is soldered on crooked. I can't even put in a battery. After repairing them, they perform fairly well. These mics are not the quality that Astatic was known for since they are now owned by Barjan.

ABSOLUTE JUNK!

This is the crappiest desk mic I've owned in the last 32 years on the CB. Whoever designed the audio circuit has a tin ear. It is probably best suited for Chinese CB'ers since it doesn't understand English. The mic's frequency response leaves tons to be desired of. It has NO PROXIMITY EFFECT. There are absolutely NO LOWS, only midrange and treble. Adjusting the volume pot is a real pain no matter where you set it or the mic gain on your radio. With a brand new 9 volt Duracell (and I tried several) you just about have to eat the mic in order to get a half way decent sound out of it. More than two inches away from it and the audio drops like a rock! As if you were holding the key down with a ten foot pole from another room, THAT BAD! You either have to hold this mic like a handheld one close to your mouth or hunch over close enough to talk into it. Don't even get me started on the battery compartment. It was designed by a moron. If a crappy sounding mic is what you're looking for this is the one you want. ABSOLUTE JUNK!

This product appears to be high quality. This item was purchased for a summer project so I have not used it to evaluate it. Seller was excellent to work with and I recieved it quickly.
