Great Product !!
By vxp
The item itself arrived in a relatively timely manner with no delays. Inside the box, however, the packaging left me a bit skeptical. Even though it looks like the product itself was not damaged while it was being transported, the lack of any preventive measures left me skeptical. The box for the product itself filled up the entirety of the box being used to ship it, leaving little room for any padding or material to deter any accidental drops or bumps. Regarding the box for the video card itself, there did not appear to be any signs of tampering, which was a good sign. Instead of removing the carton tray directly from the box, an interior paper tray slides out that holds the carton. Meaning, be extremely careful when removing the video card from the box itself, in case it falls out. Next, there was no antistatic bag enclosing the video card. In the paper carton, the card was only stabilized by some small pieces of foam that look more like they were meant to hold the card in place rather than act as ways of preventing the card from being damaged. Enclosed within the box are the video card, a DVI to VGA adapter, PCI power connection adapter (for those lacking an extra 6-pin PCI power connector), HDMI to mini HDMI converter, and CD containing what I assume to be the drivers for the card. Installation of the card itself drew mixed feelings. The majority of the time was spent on maneuvering the card itself carefully within my computer case, considering that the card is relatively long, this might require some skill and patience. (Note: ensure that the video card is firmly seated to the PCI connection) No issues came up when connecting the PCI power connectors to the card, again make sure that the connections are snug. Regarding the size of the card itself, proper ventilation is a necessity inside the computer case, otherwise temperatures will skyrocket. Prior to removing your previous video card, it is strongly recommended that you download the latest driver form nVIDIA's website FIRST before you remove your old drivers and video card. After installing the card, booting up produced no problems, after installing the driver everything appeared normal and no issues have arisen so far in the time I have owned this product. When the card is idle (at desktop with no applications running), the temperature averages around 44 degrees Celsius, with the fan running at approximately 3000 RPM. When running Folding @Home, GPU usage immediately approaches 99% and GPU temperatures progressively increase, until they plateau around 75 degrees Celsius, a 31 degree increase from idling temperatures. Overall, I did not find any sign substantial problems with the card and would definitely recommend this product who want a decent graphics card to run some demanding applications. For the more extreme enthusiasts, I would point them towards nVIDIA's GTX480 which packs more of a punch in processing power. As a side note, when the card is at idle temperatures, the fan may be slightly annoying for those in quiet environments; when the card is running at a full load, fan volume increases moderately (this is definitely a subjective observation). But with the appropriate amount of cooling this should not be a problem for most people.

good price for a good card
By Emmett
I bought the card a couple years ago (it was more expensive then) but it was a big step up from the 8600 GT i was running at the time. I am surprised at how well this card can still run newer games considering its age. I can play Crysis 2 and Skyrim at nearly the max settings for several hours without any lag whatsoever. Remember to occasionally remove it and clean off the dust. Normal Operating temperatures are 45 at idle and I have never seen it go above 80. Its a mid range card capable of some high end processing. A worthwhile buy if you ask me. I feel no pressure to upgrade to a newer card because I've yet to see any games that this card can't handle. So buy it now, it will last you a long time.

Can your existing PS run this?
By James D. Crowley
For most this is probably a no Brainer? I ordered this card & installed it ... Screen wouldnt come up, called the Tech line on the box. They were extremley helpful as well as knowledgable. The computer I have has a 350w Power Supply, this card takes at least that much to run. So if you order this card, you might check your power supply capabilites first, so that if need be, you can order a Larger Power Supply along with the card ... so you don't have to wait weeks & stuff.
