Quiet & moves lots of air. 'Tougher than expected' install in existing structure.
By robert johnston
Now that I got it up and running, this small 'industrial strength' home bathroom fan is superbly quiet and voluminously moves the 110 CFM of exhaust. I chose it because it was the smallest ceiling hole, highest volume, lowest noise model I could find for the price. I would only need to enlarge the existing fan drywall hole by 1" on 2 sides. So, it was a DIY project. I've replaced a number of spun-out bearing bathroom fans before. My beef with this model is the difficulty fitting the fan plenum to the exhaust hose from the side as it is cajoled into place. The finger clearance and angular range of required motions to keep the plenum to hose adapter aligned takes a couple misfire attempts before it's a success. I had to trim some metal from the housing to gain visibility and make it all come together. It was a knuckle-busting, abdominizer, balancing act from a ladder.I'm quite happy with the result, but installation in existing structures could be tricky ... it can be done!

Super-quiet fan that moves lots of air
By Scott A. Martin
I needed a fan that would fit between narrow ceiling joists. It was hard to find a fan that would move a reasonable volume of air, be relatively quiet and still fit in a narrow 10.5" space. This fan fit the bill (and the available space) nicely, and is also moderately priced. Fortunately I didn't have to deal with installing through existing sheetrock so it was a simple installation. The space between the joists was tight enough that I was able to mount using only screws up through the flange into the joists, so it was not necessary to mess with the sliding mounting brackets. This fan moves a large amount of air and makes very little noise. Based on the ratings it also appears to be highly efficient, using only 13 watts. Our entire family is very impressed with its performance.
