Great Chess Set for a Civil War History Buff

This is a beautiful chess set. The figures are well made and have a good weight. The board is beautiful, but a little small. It will be a perfect base on which to display the set, but a larger board will make for more comfortable playing.

I was unable to find any reviews on this product despite looking on multiple sites. Ordered this as a gift for someone and am happy with the set. The metal chess men appear sturdy and have a good amount of detail. The board itself is nice. It appears to be made of wood, but does not really look like it due to the coating/stain that is on it. Board is also not very heavy, but it seems sturdy. Note that the actual playing surface is only about 8"x8". I have not yet used the board, but suspect that when the chess men are all set up, the playing surface will be a little crowded. Overall I am happy with this chess set especially for the price compared to other available civil war chess sets.
