Just like when you were a kid...
By Bosch232
We've had this track for about 6 weeks now. It's pretty fun, and basically just the same as when I was 9 myself and had one (both the good and the bad). The G Series cars are just stupid-fast. One could argue that the slower standard cars may be less frustrating for little kids, because these cars can (and do) launch off the track if you don't throttle back. The three power settings on the wall plug in work OK, we run ours on the intermediate one.The thing to know about AFX tracks is that they build up a small amount of oxidation on the track and the car contact points when it sits unused for a week. That means when you go back to it, it needs about 5 to 10 laps to get that worn off, and to warm up and loosen up the car motors. The toy runs WAY better after a 10 lap warm up. This goes for new out-of-the box as well.Plan on an hour on your knees to set it up, and if you have the room, keep some space on all sides so you can easily retrieve crashed cars. Ours is against a wall and that means tip toe-ing through the track to get your car sometimes. It doesn't trump the Wii or DS in terms of what my kids want to play with first, but it's getting it's share of use, and I like the nostalgia of it.

Absolutely love it!
By kbgrogue61
Bought this set as an alternative to spending $500 + on digital sets. Had to convince my stubborn husband that this would be a great better than average ho hum beginning set for our grandchildren to enjoy. Set up was easy if you go slow and low. We opted to set up on a finished 4' by 8' plywood covered with artificial grass and mounted on an old table. the effect is very nice and the artificial turf keeps the track from sliding. You should run the cars at least once a week to keep carbon from building up on the track. Buy additional cars! That way you have them when you need them. Our grandchildren, ages 6-14 enjoy playing with the set for long periods of times. The adjustable speeds make learning the controls very user friendly. Great product. Great price.

A santa gift that was the hit of the day. My kids wore out the pick-up shoes the first day, they played with it all day long.
