Great choice for those who like to feel the sea

I am not a much of a pool swimmer, but grew-up & live by the sea, so open-water is more my friend.When I started doing triathlons 12 months ago I purchased a full body Orca 3 which I used for racing etc., but for most training I would still swim without a suit as I believe it to be better for focusing on stroke mechanics & I like to feel the water on my skin. This year I have not been able to get as much swim training in as possible and when I have raced I found my suit really uncomfortable and my times were not great either so I tried using a shorty wet suit for some transition training and found that to be much more comfortable even though the suit in question was designed for surfing.This led to me purchasing my NeoSport sleeveless shorty and evidence to date is that it was a great, great, choice.The suit is much lighter than my shorty or my full length suit, partly due to the lack of shoulders, but mostly due to the variable thickness. For me this is a great advantage as I travel a lot and being able to have my suit in hand luggage is fantastic, and I have not noticed much difference in buoyancy (perhaps my full length was giving me too much!).I have had no difficulties with the reduced coverage and insulation either, but I do have a higher tolerance for cold than most - if you are feeling cold work harder!I have raced in the suit only once so far & was quite pleased with my time, and the suit is much faster to get off and cover ground with if there is a long run to transition. Strangely I found sighting was also easier in rough water than with a full suit...I originally ordered a size M, but was able to change to an S at the last minute. I'm 5'7 & 160lb and the S is a perfect fit.I strongly recommend this option as a great value choice for those who like to feel the sea.

I got this because I wanted to be able to extend my swimming season in our pool into the winter as much as I could. Turns out this winter was a bad one to try that; but I finally was able to use it the other day when the water got above 65 degrees F. I was amazed at how well the suit worked. It does provide neutral bouyancy. It's relatively easy to put on and take off and somehow the water stays out of it enough so that you can stay relatively warm. I also used some surfer booties to keep my feet warm. I'm not a triathlete, although I run, bike, and swim as much as I can. I can't speak to doing incredibly long training sessions in the water with this suit; but it worked for my short work-out just fine. It's well-designed and well-made.

Excellent shorty wetsuit for the money. Shortness is great for warm water days but still gives you the boyentcy of a full suit.
