On the weekend, I use five systems to run shows at different locations for my DJ business. In the last ten years, I've owned equipment made by manufacturers such as Mackie, Crown, JBL, Berringer and Yamaha. This Peavy unit is easily as good as any expensive amplifier coming down the pike. About a year ago, I bought a pair of 15 inch Mackie powered speakers because other disc jockeys in town were bragging about how wonderful they sound. They do sound nice, but you know what? Those son of a bit**es are HEAVY. The Peavy XR8600D amplifier is light but extremely powerful. When paired with my ultra light Peavy 15" speakers, it really rocks. I can never run it at full capacity. I'd blow the roof off any given wedding venue in town. I've purchased three of these Peavy amplifiers in the last two years. Never a problem. I've owned four Mackie powered amplifiers in my life. They used to be top notch, but the new lighter models gave me endless problems. It was a repair shop nightmare. I finally traded them in. Learn from my mistakes. You don't have to purchase the most expensive unit you can find to look and sound like a pro. Save yourself some money and go with Peavy. (My one criticism is that the vocal effects on this unit aren't as strong as I'd like them to be. If you're primarily a karaoke host, that will matter. If you're a DJ who simply plays music, vocal effects will mean nothing to you. For karaoke shows, I like the Mackie Mackie ProFX 16 mixer paired with Mackie powered speakers. The Mackie powered speakers give me less problems than the Mackie powered amplifiers paired with unpowered speakers.)

This is the third one of these powered amps I have purchased for various sound needs. It is easy to use and versatile.
