Very Good Quality Impact Set And Case

Sometime back I purchased the Chicago Pneumatic SS618D 3/4" Drive 8 Piece Metric Deep Impact Socket Set to round out my 3/4 drive sockets for my new Chicago Pneumatic CP-7763 impact wrench. In the past, I had used Chicago Pneumatic sockets in repair shop and trucking businesses I once acquired. I later sold everything with those businesses, but the Chicago Pneumatic tools I had there had proven to be reliable and of good quality.I purchased both this deep-well set and the matching SAE set (Chicago Pneumatic SS6008D 3/4"Drive 8 Piece SAE Deep Impact Socket Set). At only 8 sockets each, both sets just provide the most commonly used impact sockets in 3/4 drive for the equipment I use around my home. I like the finish and the way the sockets are stamped and engraved for easy identification of size, and the heavy duty design I know offers long service life.While I keep most of my mechanic tools in a large metal top box and cabinet, I do find the blow molded case to be very strong and capable of long service. The difference in this case and most others is it has a very sturdy hinge design that uses a metal pin in the two hinges. Just the weight of the empty case is noticeably heavier than most others of even larger size. It has two of the normal plastic side clasps like many better blow molded cases, but it also has two nice healthy metal clamps to securely keep the case closed. The Heft of those clamps and the whole case says it's one that will survive the beatings of heavy use. In fact, since I don't need the cases for my sockets, I intend to modify them internally to provide strong protection and storage for some of my more easily damaged electrical tools (meters, etc.).One other thing I noticed was the great precision machining of these sockets. I actually had to knock these sockets onto my new CP-7763 impact with a dead blow hammer due to close tolerances - nice because it means they won't easily fall off the impact. It took a strong pull just to remove them from the impact. Once the CP-7763 impact nose wears some, this fit will loosen a bit for easier use, but this tells me it will still remain a good snug fit after a lot of use. Since I will only use these at my home, I fully expect they will last my lifetime - and longer.
