Great backpack, but not durable
By Forest Animal
I got one of these for my German Shepherd dog. It lasted a few months while we hiked in the woods. I would put some weights in there to tire him out (if you do this be sure to get information as to how much your dog can carry per weight, age and fitness level). Well, just today he got himself into an Azalea bush. These bushes don't have thorns or any kind of defense that would rip fabric, and he didn't even struggle. He just backed out like everything was fine, but the backpack was ripped up at the seams! It's torn at the seams along the zipper, reflective tape and some other places. It is as if the stitching just came out very easily. I thought this pack was wonderful for the time I used it, however, I think it should be able to withstand your basic harmless neighborhood bush!Pros:*Washable (according to the packaging, although I never washed it because it was easy to just brush dirt off of, and I didn't have it that long.)*Easy fitting... more than one place to adjust the straps*Padding over the buckles for comfort*Bag attaches to harness separately by velcro, so if you don't want to unbuckle the whole dog, you can just pull the pack off.*A lot of room in the pockets so your dog can carry more*Front strap has a lot of room to adjust, so you can fit the pack a little more over the dog's shoulders than the middle of his back (packs that fit on the middle of the back can hurt your dog)*Choice of colors. I chose blue and it was a pleasant color.*Two straps under the girth instead of one increases proper fit and grip.*Reflective tape in case you walk in the dark*Lightweight without anything in itCons:*Not durable. This product claims it's made with nylon strength... but the sewing is single layered and normal... like you find on a pair of jeans. I don't call that durable. If this pack can't hold up to a normal bush with no thorny defense mechanisms after only owning it for about 4 months, I'd say it's construction is weak. I loved this pack until today. Now I am thoroughly disappointed. If you only walk in areas with no bushes to get caught in, then go ahead and get this pack. I highly recommend it. I loved it for the short time I had it. If on the other hand, you walk in areas where there are a lot of bushes, I wouldn't recommend it at all. I would hate to see what a thorny bush would have done to it! Now I have to order another pack and I'm looking for something made tougher. Overall though, it really is a simple, easy to use and great backpack (just be gentle...)!

Poor durability, hard to balance, straps slip
By Elizabeth Kilmarx
This pack may be fine for walks around the block; but is not well designed for real hiking. The pack has not held up well - On the second hiking trip the black part was completely shredded, the velcro was starting to come loose, and the zipper pull broke on one side. Also, unless the pack is absolutely perfectly balanced (and sometimes even then) it tends to slide down to one side or the other of the dog. Also the straps themselves are too slippery, and do not stay in place over a longer hike. It is necessary to keep re-tightening them. In addition, the pads intended to protect the dog from chafing do not stay in place and just flop about uselessly. I have also recently learned that dogs packs should be designed to center the weight over the dog's shoulders to avoid back injury. This pack does not.

Dog Backpack
By D. Groover
Good product. However, be warned-these backpacks are sized VERY LARGE! I bought a medium for my boxer mix dog, who weighs 55 lbs. The medium is supposed to be for dogs UP TO 50 lbs., but the backpack is still loose around her body.
