44 1/2 stars........Not "exactly" as pictured with the car
By Lee
Purchased for a 2013 Ford Flex with the antenna located at the rear of the car. I saw the product photo that Amazon has of it and thought this is what I would be getting. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO ANTENNA POCKET SEWN INTO THIS COVER AS SHOWN IN THEIR PHOTO!!! In stead, it has 2 plastic grommets and instructions as to how to create an opening for your antenna to poke through after you put the cover on your car. They instruct you to put the cover on the car, then use a pencil point to poke a hole through the ULTRA THIN fabric ( and I mean ultra thin). After you poke your hole, you remove the cover, put the grommets over the pencil point hole and squeeze the 2 grommets together. Then go back and put the tip of the antenna through the partial pencil hole you just made, and push the cover down to the base to expand the opening. Then you proceed cover the rest of the car. It took me all of 5 minutes total time from out of the box to making the hole to covering the vehicle. COVERS A FORD FLEX PERFECTLY WITH A NICE SNUG FIT. I'll use a bungee cord in the center side grommets to keep it from flapping in the wind......but I probably don't need to since it fits so well. I would recommend when you go to "fit the antenna" that you have helping hands and use a ladder. Find the center of the antenna base and try and poke the hole as close to it as possible If you don't, it wont line up correctly and you might NOT be able to pull the cover down all the way in the front of the car. I was off just a bit ( see photo) and you'll see the wrinkle that it left up top. I didn't get up high enough on the ladder to center it up.Material as I said is ULTRA, ULTRA THIN...... but seems strong. It's ridiculously light weight and would be easy for a gal (I'm a 63 yr old woman)to put on and remove. NOTE, The fabric looks NOTHING like what Amazon has shown in the photos used to describe the seam construction. I've posted some photos of how it looks on the car and the thinness of the cover. NO FELT OR FUZZY type inner COATING......so it that's what you're looking for in a cover.....THIS ISN'T THE ONE!!!My vehicle stays outside 24/7/365 and is parked under trees. I bought this to keep the sap from turning into varnish on my white vehicle, also to keep the pollen, bird droppings, dust, tree droppings, leafs, ice and snow off it. NOTE.....It's water RESISTANT........NOT WATERPROOF. It should dry QUICKLY being so thin and light. Is it worth the money they're charging for it, I really don't know how to answer that, but this is the EXACT COVER FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS LISTED AS AN ACCESSORY OPTION ITEM IN THEIR BROCHURE, and it fits like a glove. I'm happy for now. I'll let you know more in an updated post after It's been tested a few months this spring and summer.See the 7 photos of this cover on my Flex I published on Amazon....................................MAY 12 2013 UPDATE........................................Well, I have to buy a set of "GUST GUARDS" FOR THE FRONT END. My Flex has a rounded front endand it wraps way under as well ( I expect to help reduce wind noise) so during heavy winds, and depending on which way your car is parked, the front end of the cover is lifting up. There is nothing for the cover to grab hold of hold to keep it from sliding upwards and off.The only alternative for me is to buy a couple gust clips and bungee it under the front.I my area is subjected to frequent " blows " coming off the lake at 20-30mph. Getting one of those today and I've been out a dozen times re-snugging the front. The rest of the car is fine. So, if you have a "rounded" type front end with no bumper for it to grab, you'll need the gust guard clips. CoverCraft makes a set of these clips and sells them on Amazon, and there are similar set ups with bungee's included. I'm also ordering the CoverCraft duffel bag to stuff this cover into when not in use.
